Tourism Influx For Fuerteventura 2010

Tourism Influx For Fuerteventura 2010
The tourism councilor of Fuerteventura, Agueda Montelongo states that July was the ‘second best month the island has experienced since 2003’. This is a fantastic achievement and shows further signs of recovery, mainly due to the increase in winter flights to the island, reinforcing furthermore Fuerteventura as the ideal all year round holiday destination, or a home from home in the beautiful Canary Islands.

Fuerteventura has never been easier to reach thanks to the increased number of flights to the island, getting on a plane is so easy and simple with local investment in infrastructure doubling the size of the airport. The amount of Irish holiday makers coming to the island is up by a staggering 200% a remarkable increase due mainly to the return of Ryanair flying from Dublin. Whilst Britons up by 44% and Germans by 33%. A really fantastic sign for Fuerteventura and the Canary islands.

However the biggest surprise was among the Slovakians, who we have seen a 315% increase coming to the island. An astonishing figure and furthermore, shows the growing popularity of our unique and beautiful island to new and emerging markets.

These figure show us that since January tourism overall in fuerteventura has increased by 14% this equates to an extra 100,000 visitors. Agueda has stated that Ryanair provides the island with 12% of international flights.

These figures really put emphasis on just how diverse and special Fuerteventura is. The island really does offer something for everyone for all ages and all interests. Our lovely all year round warm climate really does make us thankful for what we have. Due to the accessibility and increase flights to the island we hope to see these figures keep on rising, allowing everyone to enjoy the wonders Fuerteventura has to offer. EXETER International Airport has signed a deal with an airline and tour operator which will run new flights to two winter holiday hot spots. New Flights to Fuerteventura

Much was made of Ryan Airs decision to call a halt to flights to the island and it is still unknown whether this halt will be permanent or not! But of course when one airline decides the time to cut back and lose flights is now…other airlines see this as an opportunity to expand and take advantage of the situation.

Flight operator “Kiss” will be starting a new service to Fuerteventura from Manchester and Gatwick in April this year. The airline announced that the weekly “flight only” service will operate on Wednesdays. For more information visit http://www.kissflights.com/

Jet2 have been adding new destinations and talks are rumoured to be ongoing to open a service from the UK to the island. As the saying goes watch this space http://www.jet2.com/

Easyjet of course are still a low cost airline operating a regular service between the Fuerteventura and the UK albeit via Madrid. Seats can be found for as little as 60 Euros on the 5 flights a week service. Visit for information http://www.easyjet.com/

We also found flights for under 130 Euros using the Spanish national carrier Iberia between London and Fuerteventura again via Madrid. See http://www.iberia.com/

With Thompsons, Thomas Cook and My Travel operating their usual regular service, cheap seats can always be found and travelling between the UK and the island is never difficult. Also remember that regular flights from the UK and Ireland land in Arricife so a short bus journey and ferry crossing will get you to Corralejo. http://www.navieraarmas.com/
