El Cotillo is well known to all those who visit Fuerteventura's stunning beaches as the white sandy lagoons to the North of the little fishing village are famous for their unique beauty and idyllic calm conditions for bathing, plus the long stretched out bay to the South has some of the best kite, wind and surf conditions for the more experienced in watersports. Typically though with its roots as a fishing village it has grown around the 2 main harbours sharing a limited sheltered space for its fishing fleet. Property wise this means apartments rather than villas have grown up around the waterfront and indeed unlike the villages of Lajares and Villaverde the percentage build allowed or 'edificable' is much higher encouraging local developers to build apartments as they offer the best return and maximise the square meterage usuable in the build. For those looking to buy detached villas, the closest village is El Roque literally a 10 min walk to the waters edge along the newly paved palm lined road or bicycle path. 'Frontline' villas here command a panoramic view of the coastline to the West and offer the peace and tranquility found in the Northern villages plus the convenience of strolling to the beaches. The village itself does have it's own church of course plus a lovely restaurant and Inpescasa has main supermarkets in both Lajares and El Cotillo close by. Being a smaller village than its neighbours, fewer properties come up for sale here. This recent listing repesents the kind of position and luxury you can occasionally find with a large private plot over 1000m2, sheltered swimming pool, 3 bedrooms spread over a total build of 206m2.
