Work begins on the new road for Corralejo
Work has now started on the new dual carriageway linking Corralejo with the capital Puerto del Rosario.
The Project will be in two stages but the first stage of 18.8km between Caldereta and Corralejo is due to take 40 months to complete at a cost of 51.5 million Euros. The new road will significantly improve communication between the northern towns and villages and the rest of the island, and especially reduce the travelling time between the airport and the north of the island. The new highway will also take traffic away from the existing coastal route which passes through the Dunes National Park.
Travellers and traders using the ferry service between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura will benefit from the improved communication between the islands
